URL rewriting

URL rewriting is a way of rewriting web URLs.
In simple words it means to rewrite and change the appearance of URLs.
For example a long and complax URL can be changed to short one using using URL rewriting logic on web server.
Popular Web server like Apache provides "RewriteEngine" a softare component to its users to use URL rewriting. Users of Apache server can either user server.config or htaccess files to rewrite URLs on the fly.

URL rewriting is helpful especially when you want to create search engine friendly URLs for your website . You can customise your dynamic URLs that use QUERY_STERLING or some other path components to completly change their look and make them search engine friendly.
